“Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Bucharest, Romania was nominated in the National Education category of the 25th Radio România Cultural Awards Gala (“Gala Premiilor Radio România Cultural”), held on May 4th, 2026, at Sala Radio, for its development of Romania’s first Electronic Health Literacy Handbook (“Ghidul de alfabetizare electronică în domeniul sănătății”) — including an audio edition created for people with visual impairments. The Electronic Health Literacy Handbook is the first result of the eHELPED-iT project, being also adapted as a Braille edition in Romanian, English, Lithuanian, Croatian, Polish, Bulgarian and Greek.
At its 25th year, the Radio România Cultural Awards Gala celebrates outstanding contributions across Romanian cultural and intellectual life, spanning visual arts, music, education, film, science, theatre, poetry, and prose. This year’s Gala also featured a special concert by Bogdan Mihai Simion and Lăutarii de Mătase Band.
The national Education category recognized initiatives with a major impact on shaping critical thinking and learning among new generations across Romania. “Carol Davila” University was nominated alongside the Romanian Association for Debate, Oratory and Rhetoric (ARDOR) and the Center for Independent Journalism, with ARDOR ultimately receiving the category’s honor.
The recognition highlights “Carol Davila” University’s continued leadership in advancing digital or electronic health literacy through the eHELPED-iT project, ensuring that accurate, accessible health information reaches all members of the public, including those with visual impairments, at a time when health misinformation and information accessibility remain pressing public health concerns.
