The Electronic Health Literacy Handbook
The eHL Handbook aims to raise awareness about the importance of eHealth Literacy (eHL) in medical and allied health education. Through the development of the eHL Handbook, we provide up-to-date information and evidence-based insights on:
- Key components and skills required for eHL in health care;
- Existing eHL frameworks and their practical applications;
- Benefits and challenges of adopting eHL at individual, organizational, and community (societal) levels;
- Influencing factors, including sociodemographics, imposter syndrome, self-efficacy, and the credibility of information sources;
- Effective strategies and interventions to enhance eHL competencies across all levels of the health care system.
The specific objectives of the eHL Handbook are:
- raising awareness about the importance of eHL in the present health care context, especially for medical and allied health fields;
- emphasizing the necessity of enhancing eHL based on its components or dimensions;
- identifying the benefits and the barriers of eHL in medical and allied health fields;
- presenting the necessity of acquiring eHL knowledge and skills as early as possible in a lifetime;
- providing up-to-date information, evidence-based practices, interventions, and strategies to enhance eHL in the eHL framework.
