The Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov” at the Medical University–Sofia successfully conducted its Blended Intensive Program (BIP), entitled Flourishing: Mental Health and Wellbeing. The program brought together students, faculty, and staff from at least three partner international higher education institutions to explore mental health not only as the absence of illness, but as the presence of conditions for growth, resilience, and fulfilment. Through lectures, case studies, interactive workshops, and group projects, participants examined how universities, public health systems, and communities can reduce stigma, foster safe spaces for dialogue, and build environments that support human flourishing.
On May 7th 2026, at the invitation of Prof. Angelika Velkova – Monova, MD, PhD, DSc, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Assoc. Prof. Elisaveta Petrova-Geretto, MD, PhD at the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov” and also members of the eHELPED-iT Consortium, Assoc. Prof. Iuliana-Raluca Gheorghe, PhD, disseminated information about the eHELPED-iT project and its results- the eHL Handbook and the eHL Web Platform in an online concluding session.
Her presentation connected the BIP’s focus on mental wellbeing with the growing importance of electronic health literacy. She discussed about the project’s results, which may be considered practical tools and resources for navigating, evaluating, and applying health information online. Also, this contribution emphasized the program’s interdisciplinary and international character, linking mental health and stigma reduction to the broader digital skills needed to support informed and resilient future professionals, as well as healthy academic communities.
